Memories of Mr. Goppman

Here are three of the many pages where Allan Goppman appeared in Pittsburgh’s Jewish newspapers over the years. First, his engagement announcement in 1945. Then a column about his activities at Duquesne University. And third, a picture and article from 1991 when he was involved with donating a Torah to a shul in Israel.

Hebrew Classes

We’re offering five weeks of entry-level / refresher lessons in Hebrew this fall.  The class will be flexible, according to participants’ needs and interests.  We’ll meet at PJC on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. from October 14 through November 18.  Please call the office at 412-823-4338 or email us to register so that we can plan accordingly.  Here is the song Shalom, from the musical “Milk and Honey” to remind you about the power of the Hebrew language.

Israeli Folk Dancing

Our Israeli dancing classes are on hiatus as of January 2015.

Come to Parkway Jewish Center for beginners’ Israeli dance classes on the third Tuesday of each month.   We have a terrific experienced teacher, Lynn Berman, for these classes.  There is a small charge of $5 per student per class. Our classes are accompanied by an open band, so please invite your friends who want to come and play instruments.  Click here for directions.  If you want to bring your instrument and play with the band, contact Cantor Shapiro to get the music.
