Having a cantor for our spiritual leader means that at PJC our services flow with excellent music. Coming soon to this page are MP3 files through which you will be able to hear our melodies and learn words to the songs and prayers we say every week.
In addition to the “every week” songs, we have fun with music that goes with particular Torah readings and holidays. At Shemini Atzeret, when we read from Ecclesiastes, Cantor Shapiro passed out song sheets and led us all in Turn, Turn, Turn. On Shabbat Shira, he taught us Ozi V’Zimrat Yah. We sang We Shall Overcome at Tu B’Shevat. And one Shabbat, at the end of a week of sad losses in our congregation, we sang Where Have All the Flowers Gone.
